About Ossia
Ossia is a free service that connects brass bands with deputy players across the UK. It is operated by Ben Churchill. By using Ossia, you agree to these terms.
Your account
To use most of Ossia you will need to create an account. You agree to:
- Provide accurate information when signing up and keep it up to date.
- Keep your login details secure and not share them with anyone.
- Be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, you must have a parent or guardian's permission.
- Create only one account per person.
You are responsible for anything that happens under your account.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Post false, misleading, offensive, or harmful content.
- Harass, threaten, or abuse other users.
- Post dep requests you do not intend to honour.
- Use Ossia to spam or send unsolicited messages.
- Attempt to access other people's accounts or the underlying systems.
- Use automated tools to scrape or bulk-access content.
We may remove content or suspend accounts that breach these rules, without notice if necessary.
Dep arrangements
Ossia helps bands and dep players find each other. Any arrangement you agree to - about dates, fees, travel, or anything else - is between you and the other party. Ossia is not involved in and is not responsible for those arrangements.
If a dep arrangement falls through, that is a matter between the band and the player. We recommend confirming arrangements outside the app as well.
Content you post
You are responsible for the content you post on Ossia, including dep requests, band descriptions, and messages. By posting content you confirm that:
- It is accurate and not misleading.
- It does not infringe anyone else's rights.
- You have the right to post it.
We do not routinely review content but may remove anything that breaches these terms.
Service availability
We provide Ossia free of charge and aim to keep it running reliably. However, we cannot guarantee it will always be available. We may need to take it offline for maintenance or updates, and we may change or discontinue features at any time.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any losses arising from your use of Ossia. This includes but is not limited to missed gigs, failed dep arrangements, or service downtime.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will update the date at the top of this page when we do. Continued use of Ossia after changes are posted means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from your use of Ossia will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
